Sick America

Sick America

We are beseiged by many maladies these days, it seems.  Popular topic titles all seem to be followed by the word "crisis".  The least of which is the topic of health care in America. Or as he we hear most often , America's Health Care Crisis.

The government has struggled with a solution for years.  Still today, there is no clear solution, with no promise of one on the horizon.  As it continues to plague our leaders as to an answer, it is no wonder, you and I are left to throw up our hands in helplessness.

As a long time employee of a medical office, I have seen first hand the far reaching effects the insurance industry has on all of our citizens.  My own family, included.  I hear from individuals how their insurance health plans have failed them and how it is the insurance companies who have created the crisis we seem to find ourselves.

Now I am in no way an expert on medical health plans or how the insurance industry works, but I know what I see with my own two eyes. I see individuals and insurance companies alike, on their last legs.  The only thing that can be agreed upon is that it isn't working for very many of us. And the public, by and large, feel the insurance companies are to blame.  I realize it is not that simple.  There is not one sole culprit.

A myriad of factors: entities, economy, time, rising life expectancies, and our ignorance of the problem's existence, have created the issue at hand. This snowball we've created is quickly running off course. It is gaining volume and speed as it races towards the bottom of the mountain. Everyone steps out it's way, as it grows in enormity and danger.

I do have some ideas, albeit small ones.  I will post more later. I have some very personal stories I would like to relay.  But thats another post.  I'll just leave you with one question to ponder.

Does the snowball have a chance in hell?
